The ongoing US and China trade war has caused Apple to move iPad and MacBook production to Vietnam, reports Pakistan's Digital Information World.
Tension between the two countries has worsened, with apps like TikTok facing a difficult time as a result. Although Apple has requested Foxconn to move the iPad and MacBooks to Vietnam, it is unclear which models will be made there.
The new production lines are expected to start in January to June 2021.
Previously, Foxconn planned to shift 30 per cent of the assembly and production of the iPad and MacBook from China to Vietnam, while investing US$270 million in the production cost.
China is in a difficult spot, as the Trump administration has alleged ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, is guilty of intrusive collection of American users' data.
The administration has also enforced international trade tariffs and tools to make China change its policies and trade agreements with the US.
