APL takes first of ten 14,000-TEU vessels, biggest ship it operates
THE container arm of Singapore-based NOL Group, APL, has taken delivery of the first of ten 14,000-TEU ships built by Hyundai Samho making it the largest vessel the carrier operates.
APL is to deploy the APL Temasek on Loop 4 of the G6 Asia-North Europe to replace the 10,060-TEU APL Gwangyang, which will join Loop 7, reports Alphaliner.
Five of the 10 vessel order are to be chartered to MOL on delivery through the New World Alliance framework making it the largest vessels in the largest Japanese carrier's fleet.
The units from this series are due to be delivered in 2013 with five units and four units in the first half of 2014.
