The "Youzarsif H" was in collision with the Russian Navy ship "Liman" off the Turkish coast in the Black Sea on Apr 27, 2017 at noon. She was loaded with 8000 sheeps enroute from Capu Midia to Aqaba. The latter was holed below the waterline and sank 40 kilometers north-west of the Bosporus estuary, and Moscow sent war ships and a plane to the accident site off the town of Kilyos near Istanbul. The reconnaissance vessel belonged to the Black Sea Fleet. All 78 crew members were rescued. Several Russian warships and an aircraft were sent to assist. The collision was caused by fog and poor visibility. The Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildiri shortly after the incident contacted his Russian colleague, Dmitry Medvedev, and gave him his concern. This was shared by Turkish government agencies. The "Liman" was a former research vessel with a length of 73 meters, which had been upgraded by the Russian Navy to a reconnaissance vessel. In February, Russian media had reported that the "Liman" would pursue a NATO maneuver in the Black Sea, citing military circles.
