Reefer "Crown Emma" went aground in the Bosphorus
On Nov 24, 2015, at 9.40 p.m. the "Crown Emma" ran onto the shore at Kireçburnu while transiting the Bosphorus in North-South direction enroute from Varna to Algericas.
The Istanbul Ship Traffic Services had tried to alert the ship as it diverted out of the vessel traffic separation scheme but the ship was not responding to all calls and ended only meters from a gas station.
The lifeboat "Kıyıemniyet-8" and the tugs "Kurtarma 3" and "Kurtarma 10" were dispatched to the scene immediately. At 11.55 p.m. the ship managed to refloat with own manoeuvers and was anchored off Büyükdere short past midnight.
