303-Meters long, 2004-built container ship MSC Stella passed through the Strait of Istanbul this afternoon escorted by two tugs. The ship was bound for Black Sea. Ship's destination is reported as Constanta. Most probably the vessel is bound for a dry-docking at Daewoo Mangalia shipyard in Romania, as the vessel seemed to be on ballast with no containers onboard during the passage. .
On the photo, the ship is seen in front of Haidarpasha, at the entrance of Istanbul Strait. Escorting tugs are Kurtarma-1 and Kurtarma-9 of Turkish Coastal Safety Administration. Ships over 300 meters in length and above a certain air draft required to be escorted a number of tugs decided by an experts panel.
