RAY-MONT Logistics has started building a new facility for bagging plastic pellets at the port of Prince Rupert in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada.
Due for completion by September 1, the facility will improve the speed and efficiency of plastic pellet exports in containers for producers in Alberta that are served by Canadian National Railway (CN).
Having the ability to bag their products locally at the port, the producers will have direct access to shipping lines that call at this port on Canada's west coast to reach the global market, Ray-Mont officials said, reported Progressive Railroading, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
'This facility will be a high tech and scalable example of the power of an efficient supply chain,' said Ray-Mont chief executive officer Charles Raymond. 'Shippers now have more options than before to access Asian markets without any warehousing or double handling. This unique process is faster and reduces costs for everyone.'
CN CEO JJ Ruest said the project is an example of the railway operator offering its customers the 'advantage and strength' of the Prince Rupert supply chain to export to new markets by bagging their pellets directly at the new facility.
