Tanker "Orapin 2" hijacked and robbed
The was hijacked by pirates in South China Sea on Sep 17, 2014, in position 01 26N 104 50E, while en route from Singapore to Dili, Timor Leste.
The vessel was loaded with gas oil, which was pumped out to two smaller tankers, which came alongside the "Orapin 2" shortly after she was boarded and taken under control by eight armed pirates. The crew was locked in and robbed of all valuables, from money to phones.
The pirates damaged the navigation and communication equipment. The vessel sailed to waters of Johor State, Malaysia, after the pirates left.
