EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg has placed its fourth order with Finland's Konecranes that will bring the number straddle carriers from the same manufacturer to 55, reports the UK's Handy Shipping Guide.

The latest order booked in the second and fourth quarter of 2011 and scheduled for delivery later this year, comprises 14 straddle carriers for container handling and includes the supply of maintenance services. They lift 50 tons and stack containers one over two.

Jointly, with Contship Italia, Eurogate operates sea terminals in the Baltic and North Sea, in the Mediterranean region as well as in the Atlantic. The company has 10 terminals and handled 12.6 million TEU in 2010.

Said Konecranes straddle carrier manager Jens Andreas: "This fourth order from Eurogate proves both that our straddle carriers are reliable and technically advanced products and that our service support is appreciated by our customers."
