Zamil Offshore acquires Norway's Remoy Shipping, marking its entry into the Norwegian offshore market and ensuring future growth for the company.
Saudi Arabia's Zamil Offshore Services Company has officially entered the Norwegian offshore market with the acquisition of Remoy Shipping for an undisclosed amount, as reported by Singapore's Splash 247.
The acquisition includes Rem Stadt and RS Crewing, ensuring the future of Remoy Shipping after over 100 years of family ownership. Established in 1899, Remoy Shipping has evolved from a fishing company into a provider of offshore services, operating eight PSVs, a naval vessel, and a variety of commercial and crewing operations.
The owners of Remoy Shipping stated that the sale followed a comprehensive review of their long-term needs and market challenges, leading to the conclusion that new capital and an industrial partner were essential. Although several bidders expressed interest, Zamil Offshore was selected due to its financial strength and extensive experience in the offshore energy sector.
Zamil Offshore, one of the largest offshore service providers in the Middle East, has been a key player in supporting Saudi Arabia's oil and gas industry since 1977. The company boasts a fleet of over 60 vessels, including PSVs, construction units, diving support, and accommodation ships, many of which are on long-term charter with Saudi Aramco.
Chief Executive Sufyan Al Zamil remarked that this acquisition represents a significant milestone as the company expands its operations beyond the Middle East. He expressed confidence in the future growth of Remoy Shipping, highlighting its long and successful history.
For Remoy Shipping, this transaction provides continuity and opportunities for expansion in a challenging offshore market. Under Zamil Offshore's ownership, the company will continue to be based in Norway and remain part of the maritime cluster while exploring new opportunities in offshore energy. The Remoy Group emphasized that this move strengthens their platform for long-term development.
