Mehmet Akbaş, Chief Engineer of M/V XIN HAI TONG 503, tragically passed away after a fall while anchored off Ceyhan. Our condolences to his family.
Mehmet Akbaş, a graduate of ITU Maritime Faculty (YDO-86) and Chief Engineer, passed away in the hospital due to severe injuries sustained after falling while at anchor on the M/V XIN HAI TONG 503 vessel in Ceyhan.
It was reported that Chief Engineer Mehmet Akbaş, who was serving on the general cargo ship M/V XIN HAI TONG 503, fell from a height of approximately four meters while in the anchorage area off the coast of Ceyhan, resulting in serious injuries.
Following the incident, the ship's crew notified health teams, and Akbaş was taken ashore and transferred to Ceyhan State Hospital. It was learned that despite all medical interventions, Akbaş unfortunately passed away in the hospital.
