Xiamen's half-year fruit imports from Taiwan up 43pc to 6,955 tonnes SOUTHEAST China's coastal city of Xiamen opposite Taiwan posted a 43.13 per cent year-on-year increase in fruit imports to 6,955 tonnes in the first half of the year, reports Xinhua.
The port handled 451 batches of Taiwan fruit in the period, up 31.49 per cent compared to the same period last year, maintaining the No 1 spot as top fruit importer from Taiwan in mainland China.
The Xiamen authority's decision on continuing the Taiwan fruit imports subsidising scheme this year has greatly contributed to the rapid growth of the Taiwan fruit imports.
