The final wreck removal operation for the 'Bereket' was approved by the port captain of Istanbul. A salvage and wreck removal company was appointed for this task by the Maritime Authority, and the operation was expected to commence on June 20. The vessel remained stationary at the grounding position, at Istanbul anchorage.
