MAJOR air cargo airports worldwide mostly posted growth in freight volumes in 2018, some even breaking records, although, Milan Malpensa's volumes decreased 3.2 per cent. Nonetheless, Milan Malpensa remains Italy's top airport and retained its position as Europe's sixth busiest cargo gateway, London's Loadstar reported.

At the other end of the spectrum, Miami International handled record volumes, albeit the biggest growth spurt was seen at Chicago Rockford, which reported a 55 per cent spike in cargo traffic.

At Leipzig and Moscow the cargo momentum was slightly more restrained, although volumes still rose by 7.3 per cent and 5.5 per cent respectively.
