UZMAR Shipyard sponsors the 'Salvage Company of the Year' award at ITS 2026, honoring Donjon Marine for its exceptional wreck removal efforts.
One of the most prestigious international events in the maritime sector, the 28th International Tug & Salvage Congress, Exhibition, and Awards (ITS 2026), took place during a grand gala night in Gothenburg, Sweden. This platform rewards operational success, safety culture, and technical competence criteria in the towing and salvage industry, where UZMAR Shipyard, one of the global brands of Turkish maritime, played a significant role.
UZMAR Shipyard was the official sponsor of the 'Salvage Company of the Year' award, which is one of the most critical categories in this year's organization.
The Award Went to Donjon Marine, the Company that Reopened the Port of Baltimore
During the night, as a result of evaluations by the global maritime jury, the 'Salvage Company of the Year' award was won by Donjon Marine Co., LLC, a U.S.-based marine vessels and wreck removal company. A. Noyan Altuğ, Chairman of the Board of UZMAR Shipyard, personally presented the award to the representatives of Donjon Marine on stage.
The primary reason for Donjon Marine being awarded this significant honor was its outstanding success in the wreck removal operation of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed following a container ship accident in Baltimore. The company managed to reactivate the Fort McHenry federal channel and Baltimore Port with zero workplace accidents in a record time of just 77 days, thereby preventing a disruption in the global supply chain.
'We Will Continue to Support Excellence and Safety'
Following the award ceremony, a statement from UZMAR Shipyard emphasized the importance of honoring teams that elevate safety, leadership, and operational standards to the highest levels at sea. The company reiterated its commitment to supporting projects that enhance the global excellence focus within the industry and maritime safety.
