Currently, the U.S. has a total of 10 warships deployed in the Mediterranean, including 1 aircraft carrier, 8 destroyers, and 1 refueling ship.
The USS Gerald R. Ford, the newest generation aircraft carrier of the U.S. Navy, can operate for extended periods without refueling due to its nuclear propulsion system. The ship, with a fully loaded weight of approximately 100,000 tons, has the capacity to carry up to 75 combat aircraft, enabling air operations in open seas.
