The US has deployed 23 warships in the Mediterranean and Oman Sea amid rising tensions with Iran.

The United States has increased its military presence along the line extending from the Mediterranean to the Oman Sea, raising the number of warships to 23 following tensions with Iran.

According to a compilation from sources that track and analyze open-source intelligence data, the U.S. has 10 warships in the Mediterranean, 1 in the Gulf of Aden, 10 in the Oman Sea, and 2 in the Persian Gulf. Currently, the U.S. has a total of 10 warships deployed in the Mediterranean, including 1 aircraft carrier, 8 destroyers, and 1 refueling ship.

The USS Gerald R. Ford, the newest generation aircraft carrier of the U.S. Navy, can operate for extended periods without refueling due to its nuclear propulsion system. The ship, with a fully loaded weight of approximately 100,000 tons, has the capacity to carry up to 75 combat aircraft, enabling air operations in open seas.

Equipped with advanced radar systems, electronic warfare capabilities, and close-in air defense systems, the ship operates with a nuclear reactor. With a crew of about 4,550 personnel, it stands out as one of the key elements of U.S. global military deterrence.

The 'Arleigh Burke' class guided missile destroyers can perform multi-role missions with operational capabilities such as air defense, anti-submarine warfare, and ballistic missile defense. Additionally, these destroyers, equipped with torpedo systems, close-in air defense weapons, and advanced radar sensors, play a critical role in protecting aircraft carrier strike groups.

Operating with a crew of approximately 300, these destroyers provide a shield against aerial threats and, when necessary, offer long-range precision strike capabilities against land targets. With these features, the destroyers emerge as one of the fundamental components of U.S. deterrence and rapid response capability in the region.

The USS Kanawha, a 'Henry J. Kaiser' class replenishment ship, plays a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of operations by providing fuel and logistical support at sea. The ship can refuel warships while underway, supporting the operational capability of the fleet during prolonged missions.
