Ulusoy Denizcilik enhances its fleet by acquiring two Kamsarmax bulk carriers for $48.4 million from Shandong Shipping's auction.
Ulusoy Maritime has taken a significant step towards modernizing its fleet by acquiring two Kamsarmax bulk carriers from a five-vessel package put up for auction by the Chinese shipping giant Shandong Shipping.
It has been reported that Ulusoy Maritime paid a total of $48.4 million for this strategic investment, which is set to take place in early March 2026. The modern vessels, each with a capacity of 81,800 DWT, are being constructed at the CSC Jinling Shipyard in Jiangsu, China, and will be registered under the Turkish flag following the acquisition. The vessel acquired through the auction process, named Shandong Fu Yuan, will be included in the company's operational fleet as ULUSOY-18, while the Shandong Fu Hui vessel will be named ULUSOY-17.
This move is closely monitored by industry stakeholders as it marks Ulusoy's first large-scale investment in the bulk cargo segment since 2011. With the addition of these new vessels, the company's fleet of bulk carriers will increase to six, complementing its long-standing experience in Ro-Ro and port operations with a competitive position in dry cargo transportation. Particularly, the compliance of these modern tonnages with international emission regulations and energy efficiency standards is expected to directly contribute to the company's sustainable growth strategy.
