Eighteen miles south of Silivri, the vessel named Alsu, sailing from Kocaeli to Aliağa, collided with the vessel named Tuğberk İmamoğlu, which was en route from İskenderun Port to Karadeniz Ereğli.
Two commercial vessels flying the Turkish flag collided 18 miles south of Silivri. While there was no visible damage on the tanker 'Alsu,' communication could not be established with the 10 crew members aboard the cargo ship 'Tuğberk İmamoğlu.' Search and rescue operations in the area are ongoing.
According to a statement from the Istanbul Governorship regarding the incident, at around 03:00, the Turkish-flagged commercial vessel 'Alsu,' sailing from Kocaeli to Aliağa, collided with the Turkish-flagged commercial vessel 'Tuğberk İmamoğlu,' which was sailing from İskenderun Port to Karadeniz Ereğli, 18 miles south of Silivri.
Numerous maritime units and a coast guard helicopter from the Coast Guard Command of Marmara and the Straits were dispatched to the scene.
Initial assessments indicated that there was no visible damage on the vessel named 'Alsu,' while contact could not be established with the cargo ship 'Tuğberk İmamoğlu' and the 10 crew members aboard.
Search and rescue operations in the area continue.
