A mechanical failure caused the bulk carrier North Moon to collide with the anchored Gold Lucky at Bartın Port, resulting in material damage but no injuries.
In an incident that occurred in the evening hours at Bartın Port, the bulk carrier North Moon, while maneuvering to dock, collided with another vessel named Gold Lucky, which was anchored in the port due to a machinery failure. There were no casualties or injuries in the incident, but both vessels sustained material damage. Port authorities and maritime safety teams intervened immediately.
It was reported that the accident occurred due to a machinery failure experienced by the North Moon during its approach maneuver to the port. The vessel lost control as a result of the failure and collided with the other bulk carrier waiting in the port. It was stated that both vessels suffered hull damage, while the health condition of the crew was reported to be good.
Following the incident, the teams from the Bartın Port Authority took security measures by temporarily controlling the port traffic. Additionally, it was reported that necessary inspections were conducted in the port area against potential environmental risks.
The Port Authority announced that an official administrative investigation has been initiated regarding the collision and that the exact cause of the accident will be clarified through technical examinations to be conducted.
