ANKARA (Xinhua) -- A Turkish ship carried more than 1, 200 people, most of whom were foreigners, to Turkey from Libya early today, local media reported. With foreigners from Thailand, Philippines, Pakistan and other countries and 460 Turks on board, the ship left Ras Lanuf and Benghazi ports and arrived in the southwestern Turkish port of Marmaris in Mugla Province, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported. Around 9,500 people have been brought from Libya to Mugla and 10 percent of them were foreigners, the province's governor Fatih Sahin was quoted as saying. On Tuesday, two ships arrived in Marmaris with around 2,500 people from Libya, he said. Turkey had evacuated nearly 18,000 people from Libya and nearly 600 of them were foreigners, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters on Monday, noting that no Turks were left at Libya's Tripoli airport and Benghazi port waiting for evacuation.
