Turkish Lloyd delegation commemorates Atatürk and the Cabotage Law's 100th anniversary during a visit to Anıtkabir in Ankara.
The Turkish Lloyd delegation visited Anıtkabir, the eternal resting place of the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as part of their meetings in Ankara.
During the visit, a wreath was laid at Atatürk's mausoleum, and the Anıtkabir Special Book was signed by Prof. Dr. Oral Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of the Turkish Lloyd Foundation.
Erdoğan wrote the following sentences in the Anıtkabir Special Book:
'We must consider maritime affairs as the great national ideal of the Turk and achieve it in a short time.' Your words have been the strongest guide directing Turkish maritime since the establishment of our Republic.
Today, on the 100th anniversary of the enactment of the Cabotage Law, we, as the Turkish Lloyd family, are honored to be in your spiritual presence. The declaration of our Republic, our independence certified internationally by the Treaty of Lausanne, our national sovereignty established at sea by the Cabotage Law, and our sovereign rights reinforced by the Montreux Convention on the Turkish Straits have formed the foundation of a strong and independent Turkey in maritime affairs. These historic steps have paved the way for the realization of your vision that made maritime a national ideal.
Established in 1962, Turkish Lloyd has been one of the most important institutional achievements of this great ideal and a concrete result of our country's quest for independence and competence in the maritime field. Today, the Turkish Lloyd Foundation, which serves our country in a wide range of areas from maritime to industry, energy to infrastructure, and defense projects, provides scholarships and educational support to thousands of students and supports research projects. It is one of the strong representatives of our Republic's science, engineering, and production-based development understanding.
In line with your goal of surpassing the level of contemporary civilizations, Turkish Lloyd successfully represents our country in the global maritime community as a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). Its recent institutional transformation, technical development, and international activities further elevate the prestige of Turkish engineering and Turkish maritime on a global scale.
We bow before your precious memory with respect, gratitude, and appreciation.'
On the other hand, it has been learned that the Turkish Lloyd delegation also visited Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Defense Industry Agency, and Emre Dinçer, General Director of Shipyards at the Ministry of National Defense, during their meetings in Ankara.
A visit was made to Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Defense Industry Agency, by the Board of the Turkish Lloyd Foundation.
During the visit, an exchange of views was held regarding Turkish Lloyd's classification, conformity assessment, and certification activities aimed at the defense industry, as well as current developments in the sector. Additionally, the importance of quality, safety, and compliance with international standards in domestic and national defense industry projects was evaluated.
