TURKISH Cargo has flown five white rhinos from Johannesburg via Istanbul to their new home in Shanghai. Specialist teams and keepers accompanied each weighing one tonne the rhinos. The rhinos were raised under supervision until they reached the age of three as they are an endangered species due to illegal hunting for their horns, Mumbai's Stat Trade Times reported.
'Through this operation performed to Shanghai by Turkish Cargo, it is aimed to enhance the awareness level of the Chinese people on the effect of illegal hunting on natural life balance and the endangered species of white rhino,' said Turkish Cargo.
