Beykoz Maritime Vocational School Alumni Association's iftar dinner united maritime leaders and alumni for a night of solidarity and celebration.
The traditional iftar dinner organized annually by the Beykoz Maritime Vocational High School Alumni Association (BEDEMED) brought together important figures from the maritime sector and graduates from different periods.
The iftar program was attended by Salih Zeki Çakır, the former Assembly Chairman of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping; Cemalettin Şevli, former General Manager of Maritime Trade and former Istanbul Regional Port Director; Zafer Akbulut, President of the Turkish Deep-Sea Captains Association; and Cahit İstikbal, President of the Maritime Safety Association. Additionally, lawyers Türker Yıldırım and Hande Ertuğrul from Esenyel Law Office, M. Nuri Can, General Manager of TRANSBOSPHOR, Captain Saim Oğuzülgen, Ali Bozoğlu, journalist Gökhan Karakaş, TÜDAV President Prof. Dr. Bayram Öztürk, and Hakan Çendik, former president of KOSDER, along with many other sector representatives and school graduates, gathered for this meaningful night.
This year's iftar organization showcased a strong example of solidarity among the school’s alumni. The main sponsorship of the event was undertaken by the 1992 graduates of Deck and Engine (GV/MK), providing significant support. The gold sponsorships of the evening were provided by Espresso, Argemon, GMSTECH, Tuna Ship Supply, Yoroz Maritime Shipping Agency, ISSU Fresh Water Supply, Densa Tanker, and Liva Marine, while Nereus Law Office, Sierra Marine, Esenyel Partners, Navida Ship, BTM Group Weichai, Leeward Marine, Smyrna Marine Group, and Memişoğlu were among the silver sponsors. Individual supporters included Ali Kurudirekçioğlu, a graduate from MK 91, and Muhammet Aydın on behalf of the GV 98 graduates, who also contributed to the event.
Captain R. Erkan Erecek, the Chairman of the Beykoz Maritime Vocational High School Alumni Association Management Board, who was recently re-elected during the ordinary general assembly, delivered a speech emphasizing unity and solidarity during the iftar. Chairman Erecek, along with board members including General Secretary Ercan Karaer, Administrative Secretary Kudret Girgin, and Financial Secretary Sabri Kılıç, who were also present as hosts, presented thank-you plaques to all sponsoring organizations for their contributions to the organization.
The evening concluded with heartfelt conversations among the maritime community and the taking of commemorative photographs.
