    LR2 Pioneer, Hong Kong China flagged 244 meters long tanker brought the first fuel shipment for Turkey's new airport terminal.

    LR2 Pioneer, Hong Kong China flagged 244 meters long tanker brought the first fuel shipment for Turkey's new airport terminal. 

    Berthing operation, which lasted about 2 hours, was carried out by a team led by Capt. Cahit Istikbal, Chief Pilot of the Turkish Coastal Safety Administration. Capt. Istikbal carried out a simulated berthing one day before the operation, at the Simulation Center of Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty.

    The tanker, LR2 Pioneer is a Hong-Kong China flagged tanker 244 meters in length and 43 meters in width. Tenker was assisted by 3 voith-schneider tugs owned by Turkish Coastal Safety Administration, Kurtarma-3, Kurtarma 7 and Kurtarma 8. Berthing operation lasted two hours due to the limited maneouvring options enforced by the depth of the port waters.
