The 274-meter-long tanker flying the Palau flag, which suffered a mechanical failure in the Dardanelles Strait, was towed by a tugboat and anchored at the Şevketiye Anchorage Area.
The Palau-flagged tanker 'ELBUS', measuring 274 meters in length, was en route from Tuzla to Croatia when it encountered a mechanical failure in front of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge during its passage through the Dardanelles Strait.
The captain of the vessel reported the situation to the Dardanelles Strait Vessel Traffic Services Center via radio.
The Coast Guard General Directorate dispatched 'Kurtarma-20', 'Kurtarma-16', and 'Kurtarma-15' to the area.
Other vessels passing through the strait were also informed about the malfunction. The disabled vessel was towed by tugboats and anchored at the Şevketiye Anchorage Area.
