    Tanker detained in Aarhus

The "Masalli" was subject of a detention request in Aarhus on Oct 13, 2017, after the ITF found out during an inspection that for a period of five months the crew had not got paid their wages of almost 134,000 US dollars which was a basic breach of the MLC Convention. ITF inspector Morten Bach was on board to check the conditions for the crew of 16, among them nine Russians, six from Azerbaijan and one Ukrainian. Since June, the crew on board the ship has not paid any wages. When the tanker arrived at the oil port in Aarhus for unloading, the Danish Maritime Authority was informed of the circumstances and was prepared to detain the ship. The ship is owned by the Turkish company Palmali and has business relations with Russia. The "Masalli" is also manned through the company's crewing company in Russia. ITF inspector Morten Bach was waiting at the dock in Aarhus when the ship arrived after some delay on Oct 12 at 11.30 a.m. and dropped anchor off the port on Oct 13.
