Tanker detained for failing DPR authorisation

The Nigerian Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has arrested athe "Jazi" being loaded with 11500 tons petrol at the Nakam Jetty, Kirikiri, Lagos. The vessel was intercepted on Feb 11, 2017, while discharging at the jetty. The vessel did not have DPR authorisation to deliver products at the depot. The vessel was taken under the custody of the Nigerian Navy for more investigations. The DPR has no record of any product importation by Nakam. The agency subsequently drew samples from the tanks at the facility for laboratory analyses. The product failed all the basic parameters, especially in regards to lour, flashpoint and specific gravity and did not meet the standard specifications of any white product. The depot has been sealed by the agency since Feb 12.
