The 'Maersk Maya' was boarded by armed robbers while she was anchored in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Feb 22, 2018. The security guard discovered people armed with guns who opened fire. The crew triggered the alarm when the attack was detected and issued an emergency signal. Fortunately, none of the crew members were hit during the shooting. They managed to seek refuge in the ship's residential area. When the attackers were discovered, they fled onto a boat. For the time being, there is no information as to whether the perpetrators stole items or supplies from the ship. The incident was reported to the local authorities.
