A Panama-flagged cruise ship with 955 Russian tourists diverted to Istanbul after failing to dock at Amasra due to 50 km/h winds.

A Panama-flagged cruise ship carrying 955 Russian tourists and 455 crew members departed from Sochi three days ago and attempted to enter Amasra port in the morning hours.

Assisted by a tugboat, the vessel approached the port but was unable to maneuver within the harbor due to winds reaching 50 kilometers per hour, forcing it to exit.

The ship made five attempts to enter the port and waited outside for approximately one hour. However, due to the persistent winds, it ultimately set sail for Istanbul without being able to anchor at Amasra port.

It is noteworthy that the passenger ship had previously collided with the port on January 18, 2023, due to severe winds, resulting in damage to both the vessel and the fenders at the port.
