    St Petersburg terminal volume up 14.1pc to 476,500 TEU in first 9 months

    CONTAINER volumes at JSC Container terminal St Petersburg from January-September increased 14.1 per cent year on year to 476,500 TEU, according to the stevedore's press release.

    Imports came to 214,300 TEU, up 12.1 per cent year on year including 50,800 TEU of reefer cargo. Exports were up 15.8 per cent to 262,200 TEU, reported St Petersburg PortNews.

    The share of laden export containers in total turnover came to 41.4 per cent of the total, up 13.5 per cent with the share of empty export boxes taking up 13.6 per cent of the total, an increase of 23.6 per cent.

    In the first nine months of 2017 the terminal handled 424 calls with the average call size 1,100 TEU. The volume of cargo removed by rail came to 26.2 per cent.
