The maritime authorities in Spain have released the Russian-flagged cargo ship Vysokogorsk, detained for an alleged oil spill, on EUR 150,000 bail, the news agency Voice of Russia reports. The alleged oil spill is reported to have taken place some 190 nautical miles off La Coruña.

According to Fesco, the incident is exaggerated. “Review of all case materials including the surveyor’s report, as well as interrogation of the Captain, showed no evidence of pollution ... The Criminal Court of Algeciras therefore ceased the criminal proceedings”, a press release from the company states. The vessel is expected to leave Spain on October 29 to continue on its voyage from Swedish Söderhamn to Alexandria in Egypt with a cargo of timber.
