    South Korea: Hyundai Heavy Secures Order for Five LNG Carriers

    The newly captured contracts with an estimated value totaling USD 1.05 billion for five liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier.

    The newly captured contracts with an estimated value totaling USD 1.05 billion for five liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers have been revealed by Hyundai Heavy Industry (HHI) on Sunday, Reuters reports. Namely, the South Korean shipbuilding company has received an order for one unit of 155,000 cubic metre LNG carrier from Brunei Gas. The contract is valued at USD 210 million. Furthermore, HHI’s affiliated shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries secured a USD 840 million worth contract to build four 174,000 cubic metre LNG carriers with dual fuel diesel engine system (DFDE). The carriers have been ordered by Maran Gas from Greece. The contract also contained an option for additional two carriers of the same class. Delivery of the carriers is expected between 2015 and 2016.
