USS Tripoli arrives in the Middle East, boosting regional capacity with F-35B jets and 3,500 Marines as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli has entered its operational area. The massive ship, carrying the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, has maximized operational capacity in the region with F-35B fighter jets, MV-22 Osprey aircraft, and 3,500 personnel.

CENTCOM stated that the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli, which carries approximately 3,500 military personnel, has arrived in the Middle East. In a statement released by CENTCOM, it was noted, 'The USS Tripoli, carrying U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel, reached the CENTCOM area of responsibility on March 27. The 'America' class amphibious assault ship serves as the flagship of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group/31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, consisting of approximately 3,500 sailors and Marines, as well as transport and combat aircraft and amphibious assault and tactical elements.'

CENTCOM also shared photos of the ship's flight deck and personnel onboard.

It is believed that the USS Tripoli fills the gap left by the USS Gerald R. Ford, the world's largest aircraft carrier, which participated in attacks against Iran but departed the region to dock in Croatia for maintenance and repair work.
