Shanghai Changshun Shipping orders four additional 6,150 TEU containerships, bringing total orders to 10, as reported by Splash 247.
Shanghai Changshun Shipping has added four more 6,150 TEU containerships at Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding, taking the series to 10 vessels, reports Singapore's Splash 247.
The latest signing covers the four options attached to a contract agreed in May for six firm ships and four optional units. Financial terms were not disclosed, though market reports priced the original programme at about US$70 million per vessel.
Shanghai Changshun also has six 4,800 TEU ships on order at Guoyu, bringing its firm pipeline at the yard to 16 vessels. The first two 4,800 TEU newbuildings are expected this year, with the remaining four scheduled for delivery in 2027.
The new 6,150 TEU vessels will be the largest in Shanghai Changshun's fleet. Clarksons data shows the company currently owns six vessels, comprising two 2,838 TEU boxships, two ultramax bulkers, and two handymaxes.
Guoyu has also signed contracts for two further 6,150 TEU containerships with Changhong International Logistics, along with two 5,700 CEU car carriers for Hainan Yanggang Hechuang Shipping. The car carrier deal marks the restructured yard's first move into that sector and will be carried out in collaboration with Yangfan Group.
