Scorpio Tankers announces a $300 million sale of six vessels, including three LR2 and three MR tankers, expected to complete in Q2 2026.

Scorpio Tankers Sells Six Vessels for 300 Million Dollars

Scorpio Tankers announced that it has signed a sales agreement totaling 300 million dollars for six tankers as part of the restructuring of its fleet. The company stated that the transactions are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.

According to the company’s announcement, three of the vessels subject to sale are LR2 type product tankers, while the other three are MR type product tankers.

Three LR2 Tankers Sold for 195 Million Dollars

The 2014-built LR2 tankers included in the sales agreement are listed as follows:

It was noted that the total sales price for these three vessels is 195 million dollars.

105 Million Dollars for Three MR Tankers

The 2014-built MR type tankers were announced as follows:

It was recorded that the total sales value for these three vessels is 105 million dollars.

Sales Revenue Will Increase Cash Strength

The company stated that the majority of the vessels have a low level of debt burden. Accordingly, there is no debt on STI Park and STI Sloane, while there is a loan balance of 10.7 million dollars on STI Madison.

The company has new vessel orders. Four new MR vessels will be delivered in 2026 and 2027. Four new LR2 vessels will arrive in 2027 and 2029. Two new VLCC vessels will be delivered in the second half of 2028.

It is assessed that this situation will allow a significant portion of the sales revenue to enter the company’s cash directly.

87 Tankers Will Remain in the Fleet

After the completion of the sales, Scorpio Tankers will have a total of 87 product tankers in its fleet. The distribution of the fleet will be as follows:

    14 Handymax tankers

The company stated that the average age of the remaining fleet is 10.2 years.

Considered as a Fleet Renewal Move

Industry sources evaluate the sale as a step to take advantage of strong prices in the second-hand tanker market and to rejuvenate the fleet. It is noted that Scorpio Tankers aims to strengthen its balance sheet with the sales it has recently conducted.
