Samudera helps PSA Mumbai reach 3 million TEU milestone

SINGAPORE's PSA Mumbai welcomed a new service operated Indonesia's Samudera Shipping when 1,876-TEU Sinar Sorong docked, reported Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide. It was double cause for celebration as during her stay, PSA Mumbai achieved a significant milestone of three million TEU handled since the start of the terminal's operations.

Deploying 1,900-TEU vessels, the weekly 'Nhava Sheva Singapore Express' (NSX) service will offer a direct and faster transit time for cargoes to and from South East Asia and India, said PSA.

The event was commemorated with an exchange of plaques between the master of Sinar Sorong, the director of Samudera Shipping India, Rakesh Vijay, and PSA Mumbai managing director Sivakumar Kaliannan.

Said Mr Vijay: 'The New NSX service (Nhava Sheva - Singapore service) reflects the strong commitment of ours to India and South East trade. We would like to congratulate PSA Mumbai management along with its professional and dedicated team on achieving the milestone of three million TEU.'

Said Mr Kaliannan; 'We thank Samudera for choosing PSA Mumbai as we continue to build our portfolio of services to offer a wider network of connections and services to the trade. With congestion at many other ports, PSA Mumbai has become a choice terminal to catch up on vessel schedules.'
