CONFESSING to inadvertently over charging harbour dues to one per cent of ships calling between 2013 to 2014, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is offering refunds to those negatively affected

CONFESSING to inadvertently over charging harbour dues to one per cent of ships calling between 2013 to 2014, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is offering refunds to those negatively affected. 'Between 2013 and 2014, MPA implemented changes to port dues following a comprehensive review to streamline rates and their presentation,' said the MPA communique.

'An audit found the MPA was not accurately updating port dues, resulting in over-collection from vessels staying more than 30 days or paying per call dues after first five days,' it said.

Those eligible for refunds include vessels in port between January 1, 2014 and June 30, 2018. To request a refund, affected vessels must apply to MPA between July 1 and December 31, 2018.

Application details can be found on the MPA website at www.mpa.gov.sg. Upon receipt of all necessary documents, MPA will process the application and inform applicants of the outcome.

For clarification, contact Kevin Wong, port master, the MPA AR teamat +65 6375 1695, or email PD_Refund@mpa.gov.sg.
