A Ukrainian drone attack reportedly damaged a vessel in Rostov, resulting in casualties among the crew and local residents seeking medical help.
A vessel in Rostov port was damaged overnight in what Russian officials allege was a Ukrainian drone attack, according to reports from Kiev's Ukrainska Pravda.
Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar stated on Telegram that the vessel was struck on the night of December 17-18. He noted that early reports indicated casualties among the crew, and that four residents of Bataysk had sought medical treatment.
Rostov-on-Don Mayor Alexander Skryabin later confirmed that firefighters were addressing a blaze on a tanker, which he attributed to a strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He also confirmed that casualties had been recorded.
By morning, Mr. Slyusar reported that two crew members had been killed and three injured after the cargo vessel caught fire in the port. He mentioned that further details were still being confirmed.
In a separate statement, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed that 47 Ukrainian drones had been downed overnight across several Russian oblasts.
