Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, will design and power an offshore vessel for as an undisclosed ship owner, who has exercised an option to build an additional Rolls-Royce platform supply vessel at Jiangsu Eastern Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. in China. The £6 million order comes in addition to the order for two UT 755 LN vessels announced by Rolls-Royce in November for the same customer. There is a fourth option included in the contract. The Rolls-Royce UT 755 PSV’s are designed specifically for transporting solid and liquid cargo to and from offshore oil and gas platforms world wide. In addition to the design, Rolls-Royce will supply an extensive range of onboard equipment, including main engines, propulsion system, thrusters, automation and control systems, deck machinery, bulk handling systems, rudders, steering gears and shaft generators.
