According to a news report by Splash247 dated October 4, 2026, the index has reached an all-time high for the fourth consecutive time. The index has increased by 73% in the last month, and its average since the beginning of the year has risen by 66% compared to the same period last year.
Daily earnings for tankers reached $660,000.
The average daily earnings for Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) increased by 10% over the past week, reaching approximately $660,000. In Suezmax tankers, a record daily earning of $630,000 was recorded with a 72% increase.
Daily earnings for MR-type product tankers reached $64,000, marking a 30% increase. This amount is double the level at the beginning of September.
Increase in gas and car carriers.
The daily earnings for Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC) on the route from the U.S. Gulf to Japan rose to approximately $194,000.
The annual charter rates for car carriers with a capacity of 6,500 vehicles have reached $95,000 per day.
Strong dry bulk and container market.
The weighted average daily earnings for dry bulk carriers stood at $23,062. Limited vessel availability in the container ship sector has kept charter rates at high levels.
