SRI LANKA's Port of Colombo handled an all-time high of seven million TEU during 2018 and the ports authority plans to celebrate this achievement at a special ceremony held under the patronage of Ports and Shipping Minister Sagala Ratnayake. The ports authority says that reaching the seven million TEU mark is a major milestone in the history of Colombo's container handling operations, reported IHS Media.
Colombo port was adjudged as the fastest growing port in the world and even ahead of competing ports in Singapore, Dubai, Fujairah, Salalah in the Gulf and Tanjun Pelepas in Malaysia in the first half of last year.
