Pony AI partners with Uber and Verne to introduce robotaxi services in Zagreb, aiming for a fleet expansion across Europe in the coming years.
Pony AI will partner with Uber Technologies and Croatian start-up Verne to launch robotaxi services in Zagreb, reported Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.
The Guangzhou-based self-driving technology firm stated that this initiative is part of its accelerated push to commercialize autonomous cabs in Europe. A first batch of robotaxis will be deployed soon, although no starting date or initial fleet size has been disclosed.
The three companies aim to operate thousands of robotaxis across European cities in the coming years, once consistent performance and safety are achieved.
Under the partnership, Pony AI will provide its autonomous driving technology, Uber will integrate the service into its ride-hailing network, and Verne will act as the fleet owner and operator.
