The 'Kriti Spirt' was approached by three pirate skiffs and one motorboat in the Aden Bight in position 13-42 N 05-037 E on March 31, 2018, at 9 a.m. and again in position 14-05 N 051-22 E. When the skiffs closed in to a distance of 100 meters they opened fire. The security team on board shot back, and the skiffs aboartd the attempt to board the tanker. A Pakistani helicopter was launched in response to the distress call received from the vessel at 09.30 a.m. The ship suffered minor damage, no injuries reported.
