    Philippines: HHIC’s Subic Shipyard Launches Two Bulk Carriers

    Two newly-built 205,000 DWT bulk carriers “RTM Dampier” and “RTM Zheng He” have been launched.

    Two newly-built 205,000 DWT bulk carriers “RTM Dampier” and “RTM Zheng He” have been launched by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd (HHIC-Phil) at the company’s Subic shipyard. The owner of the vessels, the homeport of which will be London, UK is Rio Tinto Shipping Limited. The 299.9 meter bulkers are worth circa USD 60 million respectively. The launching ceremony was attended by representatives of both the shipbuilder and the owner company, along with the ranking officers of the classification society Lloyd’s Register. HHIC-Phil President Jin Kyu Ahn praised the successful cooperation between the mutual Hanjin and Rio Tinto that resulted in execution of the contract, stressing the competitiveness of Filipino labor-force on the global shipbuilding market.
