    OOIL sales up 10pc to US$1.3 billion, but revenue per box falls 17.4pc

    HONG KONG's Orient Overseas (International) Ltd (OOIL) whose principal holding is its container unit OOCL, posted a 10.3 per cent fourth quarter year-on-year revenue increase in 2016 to US$1.3 billion.

    Revenue per TEU decreased 17.4 per cent compared to the period last year while total volume increased 9.1 per cent year on year with total revenues recording at 9.9 per cent drop.

    Quarterly volumes were up 20.2 per cent year on year while capacity increased by 14 per cent with an overall load factor 4.2 per cent higher than the same period in 2015.

    For the full year total total volumes increased 9.1 per cent while total revenues recorded at 9.9 per cent drop.

    Loadable capacity increased 5.9 per cent with the overall. The overall load factor was 2.5 per cent higher than the same period in 2015.
