OOCL has rerouted its ships away from the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has ordered its ships to avoid the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz following heightened tensions in the Middle East, the company announced.
The company stated that all its vessels are currently outside the affected area and clear of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the sailing schedule, only one ship, Cosco Shipping Aquarius, is westbound on the ME5 service and is due at Jebel Ali no earlier than 13 March. OOCL emphasized that vessels must not enter the Persian Gulf or come within 200 nautical miles of the Strait of Hormuz without prior approval.
The carrier stressed that the safety of crew, vessel, and cargo remains its top priority. It mentioned that precautionary measures are being taken to safeguard operations and minimize any impact on cargo. Alternative arrangements for affected shipments are being assessed.
OOCL added that it is monitoring the situation and coordinating with partner-operated vessels. Customers will be updated once follow-up measures, including possible alternative discharge ports, are confirmed. Local representatives remain available for inquiries.
