In the evening of June 27 the 'Kiesfracht', 1717 ts (EU-No.: 04604990), which had run aground on the Danube in the afternoon of June 22 at 5 p.m. at river km 2306 near Bogen in the Pfelling area, could be refloated, after the Hungarian barge 'Herso 1' (MMSI: 243070815) lightered part of the cargo. Both ships entered the port of Straubing after the successful operation. The 'Kiesfracht' was now being surveyed for damages. The Slovakian flagged, self propelled barge 'Plochingen', 1446 ts (EU-No.: 04001480), remained aground for the time being, but did not hamper ship traffic as it was stuck outside the fairway. Before ship traffic could be resumed on the Danube, the gravel bars which had built up during the salvage attempts first had to be removed. The work was expected to be completed in the run of June 28.
