    Oil accident in Kiel

    On Sep 16, 2017, at 12.45 p.m. the "SCA Östrand" spilt a considerable quantity of hydraulic oil into the waters of the East Shore Port in Kiel. The crew immediately started measures to tackle the spill and alerted the fire brigade which laid out oil barriers. The oil was recovered with absorbents. The oil booms remained in basin 1 of the port until the departure of the ferry to Malmö at 5 p.m. Besides 30 men of the fire rescue, the water police and representants of environmental authorities were on scene. Cargo operations were not hampered by the incident.
