Iran's military threatens to target U.S. forces near the Strait of Hormuz, asserting control over the vital shipping route amid rising tensions.
Following the announcement that the United States would support the exit of ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian army stated that it would target the U.S. Navy if it approached the region.
According to Iranian state television, a statement from the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters warned, 'We warn that any foreign armed force, especially the invading army of the United States, will be attacked if it attempts to approach or enter the Strait of Hormuz.'
The statement emphasized that control of the Strait of Hormuz lies with the Iranian Armed Forces and that transits must be coordinated by the Iranian Armed Forces. It called on vessels in the region not to 'endanger their security by making uncoordinated passages.'
The statement also indicated that the U.S. is engaging in 'piracy at sea' in the region, jeopardizing the global economy, while Iran would respond firmly to any threats and attacks.
