Nippon Express renews its agreement with Nikon for air cargo using Sustainable Aviation Fuel, enhancing environmental commitments through 2025.
Nippon Express has signed a second consecutive agreement with Nikon to provide air cargo transport services using Sustainable Aviation Fuel, according to a Nippon Express communique.
The deal extends Nikon's commitment first made in 2024 under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's project promoting SAF use in air cargo. Nippon Express was again selected as a designated cargo agent, encouraging corporate compliance with Scope 3 emissions requirements.
Nikon stated that the partnership supports its Long-Term Environmental Vision to balance business growth with environmental responsibility. As Nikon's logistics partner, Nippon Express has provided international transport support and tailored operational structures to meet the company's needs.
The agreement covers shipments from May to December 2025, with Nippon Express issuing CO2 reduction certificates equivalent to SAF used in Nikon's air cargo. This initiative advances Nikon's efforts to cut Scope 3 emissions.
Nippon Express mentioned that the NX Group has set targets to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50 percent from 2013 levels and Scope 3 emissions by 25 percent from 2022 levels by 2030. The group aims for carbon neutrality by 2050.
The NX Group's 2030 emission reduction targets were certified as short-term science-based targets in June 2025. The company stated it will continue sharing its sustainability vision with stakeholders and pursue initiatives to address climate change.
