    TAIWAN's Evergreen Line will cast another vote for the Suez route from Asia to the east coast US when it docks its new 8,508-TEU Ever Lissome in the Port of New York-New Jersey later this summer.

    The Ever Lissome's rotation is Xiamen, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Yantian and Singapore before transitting the Suez Canal and crossing the Atlantic.

    After docking in New York-New Jersey, it will continue to Norfolk and Savannah. The ship is the fifth of Evergreen's same-size ships built by China Shipbuilding in Kaohsiung.

    The ship commenced its maiden voyage this week and will dock at Maher Terminals in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.

    "Evergreen Line has been conducting a fleet renewal programme to accommodate an expected trade recovery and to protect the marine environment with eco-friendly vessels," said Evergreen group vice chairman SY Kuo. "

    Owned by Evergreen Marine (UK) Ltd, Ever Lissome is 334.8 metres long, 45.8 metres wide, with 948 reefer plugs. It is fitted with alternative power, ballast water treatment and electronic fuel injection system equipped for slow steaming.
